Insulating Glass Units, known as IGUs, are sealed units that consist of two or sometimes more panes of glass, separated by a cavity filled with either dehydrated air or gas - usually argon or krypton. The gas provides extra insulation because it is denser than normal air and less likely to let heat pass through the unit. Combining this with Low-E glass will help stop ultraviolet and infrared light from passing through the glass without compromising the amount of visible light transmitted. These both help to regulate temperature and keep rooms warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Advances in glass technology have enabled more benefits to be applied to a standard sealed unit. Solar, fire-resistant and acoustic performance options can be specified for extra performance. We are a certified manufacturer of fire-rated IGUs to Attestation Level 1 - which is essential when considering fire-rated units.

Our dedicated IGU line enables us to provide shorter lead times for sealed units bespoke to each specific order, depending on glass type, size and any optional extras, including integral blinds, screen view blinds or manifestations.

  • CAVITY GAS OPTIONS

    • Argon: A colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and inert gas that is denser than air and relatively inexpensive. Argon has a thermal conductivity of 0.018 W/(mK), which is 33% lower than air.
    • Krypton: An expensive gas which reduces solar radiation and increases heat insulation.
    • Air: A free gas.

  • GLASS TYPES

    • Fire-rated: By adding fire-protection you can help guard against smoke and fire.
    • Low-glass: A thin coating applied to glass to improve to improve their energy efficiency
    • Acoustic: Restrict noise pollution where required.
    • Laminated: Used when safety or strength is a priority
    • Toughened: Can help protect areas where safety and security is priority.

  • OPTIONAL EXTRAS

    Integral blinds can be added to IGUs for projects where privacy is important. Manifestations can be added to our sealed units to allow for personalisation and interest.

    Spacer bars are essential components of sealed window units, separating glass panes to create an insulating cavity.
    • Warm Edge Spacers: Reduce heat loss and condensation with better insulation than aluminum, improving energy efficiency.
    • Stainless Steel Warm Edge Spacers: Offer low thermal conductivity—just one-tenth that of aluminum—and excellent resistance to condensation.
    • Standard Aluminum Spacer Bars: Cost-effective, rigid, and ideal for manual applications.
